Yeah, you know me--I am so outta touch (just ask BD; I get all my music tips from him I get "out" so rarely, and fortunately, he's up on it all) that shit like this I vaguely recall as "ads" and then one birthday or Father's day, the kids give me a DVD collector's set.

So, I get this one, the first season, and wife and I watch the sequence and LOVE it...so, we promptly rent it (ie, season 2 & 3) at the "going out of biz block buster" (each disk was $0.50!) for the next two seasons, and then CRAP!?!

We find out that's IT...don't ya hate that? Why did that happen? 1001 "cocksuckers" was one too many for the censors or some such?

I do love that you can do this kind of thing though--become obsessed with a show, rent every episode, and watch it all in like, 5 days instead of 3 yrs, right?

;)

I believe the official reason for the cancellation was cost of production.I remember reading that HBO reported a record number of phone calls and subscription cancellations after the announcement that it was shutting down production.Originally due to the public outcry there were plans to wrap up the storyline with 2 separate 2 hour movie like episodes, but the creator couldn't pull it off due to other commitments.
You think you are out of touch WT,you are cutting edge compared this relic,I still don't have a cellphone and watch tv the old fashioned way, weekly.I can definitely see the appeal of watching a series on your own terms though,my friend is on me to check out Dexter but it seems kind of daunting in that there is like 39 episodes to watch to get up to speed before this current season.I mentioned to him he might like the Wire a year or so ago,and about 2 weeks later he thanks me and tells me how great a series it was but not to mention how it ended because he was going to watch the finale that night. It turns out he and his wife went on a binge and watched the the whole run of the series over those 2 weeks.

We've been obsessed with the Sopranos. Never saw it in the States (didn't get HBO). Got a DVD box set of six seasons to watch, undoubtedly pirated, with Chinese subtitles. If they were in Roman alphabet I could acquire quite an interesting Chinese vocabulary.
